Tonal Adventures:

I haven't been talking too much about my first ever Drawing class...probably because for the first half of this semester we've mainly been doing line drawings (of cardboard boxes) and were not allowed to erase. In class we have been doing some "intense looking," in order to learn to draw well without the need to erase. Finally, we've entered into shading, tone, and value using compressed and vine charcoal. These are my first attempts at this:

This last drawing (is unfinished and was done in class--photos taken with my cell phone) my teacher said, "is one of those drawings that makes you want to wake up in the morning and sing." I guess that's a good thing.
