Coloring....

In one of my classes we are learning to use Photoshop (and I am so glad that I have used it plenty before this class!). We have done a few basic design projects--creating ads, colorizing black and white photos, etc. Here is my most recent. I had to colorize a black and white photo and have some sort of "artist statement" about it (and now come up for a commercial use for it). I picked this picture of Honolulu--the parts I deliberately chose to color are my "artist statement."

When You're Having Fun...

Wow, in a couple of weeks it will be midterms! Yikes...this semester is flying by. I knew on the first day of classes that this semester would be a challenge for me. I am taking mainly "digital" art classes--an Intro to Digital Media (the first of the Graphic Design series), Digital Photography, and even Art History--which I have online! (Thank goodness I have an amazing Yoga class to balance it all out!) The hardest part is that though I am "making things" they all seem very far away from me because I am creating art in digital formats using the computer. I can't hold them. I can't touch them. They don't feel as much a part of me as building or painting something does. Making this type of art is almost difficult for me. I like to get dirty. These works, are clean and crisp, and, well...I can't smell the glue or the paint drying. However, I am resigning myself to give up these ideas or frustrations and to just create art in this medium. Tomorrow I will post a project or two. Until then...create an amazing day!

Wrecking...

So, I have been busy (doing homework and) Wrecking This Journal (click here for the back story and to see how the book looked originally). Here are some of the pages I have wrecked so far...some I am still working on and others are not yet finished--so, more to come later! Basically, I'm just opening the book to any page and doing what it says, well, here see for yourself:

"No Spoilers"

Can't make it to Hampton (or, like me, you didn't score tickets) for the "Reunion" Phish shows? "No Spoilers" seems like the next best thing. "You will experience the show in tape delay, but also in mystery, without knowing what magical journeys Phish decided to bust out. You can have a legitimate Phish party if you have enough like-minded friends!" And, if that's not enough, LivePhish is giving away MP3's from the show (you can download 'em for a limited time).

(P.S. one month from today I turn 30!!! wow!)
